DIPHER 26 – Gender, Diversity and Career Paths in Physics – Erlangen 2026

DIPHER 26 continues the legacy of fostering inclusivity and advancing gender and diversity in the FAU Department of Physics. Building on the success of previous conferences, DIPHER 26 aims to explore the interplay between gender, diversity, and career development in physics. The conference provides a platform for researchers, educators, students, and professionals to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable academic environment. Since the topic is broad and multifaceted, this year's conference will focus on career paths in physics and the structural factors that influence them.

The conference will feature invited talks covering a broad spectrum of topics in physics, complemented by presentations on gender and diversity research in academia. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to contribute through an open Call for Abstracts, with selected talks and a poster session showcasing research from all areas of physics. The programme will also include a panel discussion on career paths in academic physics, an interactive workshop, and dedicated networking opportunities.

DIPHER 26 welcomes individuals at all stages of their academic and professional journey in physics, including undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral researchers, postdoctoral researchers, faculty members, educators, and professionals from research institutions. We encourage participation from individuals with diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.

DIPHER 2026 is organized by the Department of Physics at FAU and its Physics Diversity Network (PHYDINE), with the support of the Gender and Diversity Office of FAU. The conference will take place at the Erlangen Centre for Astroparticle Physics (ECAP), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen.
