Description

In this semester the women representatives and PHYDINE, once more, invite you to a talk in the Physics Colloquium followed by a round table discussion of the series "women in science".

The talk will be given by Prof. Dr. Jochen Weller (LMU München)
with the topic “Dark Energy ‐ The biggest mystery of the Universe
will take place on Wednesday, 25th June 2025 at 12 pm
in lecture hall H in Physikum.
As usual the Physics Department will provide coffee and snacks during and after the talk.

From 1.30 pm on, Prof. Dr.  Manami Sasaki and Prof. Dr.  Stefan Funk will be discussing with us on
the topic “Diversity, equity, and inclusion in large collaborations”.
The event will take place in SR 01.683 in Physikum.
To provide a relaxed atmosphere, cookies and drinks and coffee will be provided.

As usual, the opportunity to exchange (own) experiences and information on the topic will be provided in an relaxed atmosphere. We would like to cordially invite particularly students (bachelor + master) as well as scientists (phD/postdoc/lecturer) to participate in the round table.

Please register for the round table discussion until 22th June 25.

Dark Energy ‐ The biggest mystery of the Universe

I will introduce and discuss observations which in modern cosmology let to the conclusion that the expansion of the Universe is accelerating.
I will introduce how theoreticians aim to model the accelerated expansion and how observables are constructed to shed further light on this mysterious dark energy. I will elaborate on recent findings about the nature of dark energy and will highlight how future observational campaigns, like the Euclid satellite, aim to shed light on the properties of dark energy.

Speaker: Prof. Jochen Weller (LMU München)
